Role of Topocentric Parallax in Near-Earth Object Initial Orbit Determination

چکیده

Abstract Near-Earth Object (NEO) initial orbit determination typically uses astrometric measurements during a close approach over time window much shorter than the orbital period of NEO. The is only weakly determined with dominant uncertainties in distance NEO from Earth. Topocentric allow us to estimate distances using observed nonlinear motions NEOs relative observers, which come motion Earth plus topocentric parallax (parallax) diversity observatory locations center. We calculate ratio contributions and be approximately ( T Δ/(day au)) 2 , where arc length measured days Δ approach. for ranging comes center, due mainly differential solar gravitational acceleration, when ≳ 1 day au ≲ au. This confirmed by simulation data supported observational real NEOs. In regime au, are inversely proportional amplitude parallax. Introducing diversities hour angles latitudes (especially alternating between extreme values) into scheduled follow-up observations can improve amplitude, thus accuracy. Most newly discovered this regime, we recommend optimizing properly scheduling very synthetic tracking astrometry accuracy determination.

Origin of leptons in near earth orbit

It is shown that the ratio of the e + over e − flux below the geomagnetic cutoff reported recently by the AMS experiment is due to the geomagnetic East-West effect. New measurements of particle fluxes close to earth have been performed recently by the AMS experiment, providing a body of highly accurate new data on particle populations in the close terrestrial environment, which open new prospec...

Multi-Observations Initial Orbit Determination based on Angle-Only Measurements

A new approach with the ability to use the multiple observations based on the least square approach has been proposed for initial orbit determination. This approach considers the Earth’s Oblateness by using the developed Lagrange coefficients. The efficiency of the proposed method has been tested in two scenarios. The first scenario is to use the simulated and the second one is to utilize the r...

Precise Orbit Determination for Low Earth Orbit Satellites

The precise orbit determination problem is to accurately determine the position and velocity vectors of an orbiting satellite. In this paper we review the general contents of the orbit determination process, with particular emphasis on Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. The different orbit determination approaches and the different force models contained within are briefly discussed. The two mai...

Identifying near Earth Object Families

The study of asteroid families has provided tremendous insight into the forces that sculpted the main belt and continue to drive the collisional and dynamical evolution of asteroids. The identification of asteroid families within the NEO population could provide a similar boon to studies of their formation and interiors. In this study we examine the purported identification of NEO families by D...

Adventures in near-Earth object exploration.

Asteroids, because of the hazard they pose to Earth, are compelling targets for robotic and human space exploration. Yet because of their exotic low-gravity environment, simply landing on an asteroid appears to be much more challenging than we had appreciated 5 or 10 years ago. Thanks to a bold new mission from Japan that has made the first asteroid sample return attempt, this goal is now withi...
